Let’s make these absolutely mouth watering homemade seasoned Sweet Potato Curly Fries in the Air Fryer!

Sweet-Potato-Curly-Fries

To make homemade Air Fryer Sweet Potato Curly Fries, first  we spiralize one large sweet potato.

Spiralizing Made Fun

I’m using a really fun device today that’s going to help me spiralize with ease. It’s the KitchenAid Spiralizer Attachment. It attaches to any KitchenAid Stand Mixer and it spiralizes produce as well as creating perfectly uniform slices. I recently did a full review and tutorial on this spiralizer which you can view here, if you want to learn more about it: KitchenAid Spiralizer Attachment Review.

So let’s spiralize our sweet potato with the medium spiralizer blade and the peeler.

Sweet Potato Curly Fries Recipe

Now, let’s use our spiralized sweet potatoes to make curly fries in the air fryer!

Take your spiralized sweet potato and immerse it in cold water for at least 30 minutes to release the excess starch which is essential for achieving that crispy texture.

Then make sure the sweet potato is completely dry. I usually dry by hand and then let it sit out for at least 30 minutes on a drying mat.

Next, you will want to break the sweet potato into the sized pieces you would like for curly fries. And place them into a lined air fryer basket, in neat rows, keeping them on one level. You don’t want to overcrowd them. Keeping them on 1 level allows the best chance of even cooking. Next, spritz the curly fries with avocado oil, thoroughly coating them.

Then put them in the air fryer at 375 degrees Fahrenheit and set your timer for 10 minutes. You will check them at 3 minutes and turn them over. Then continue checking every 2 minutes. My first batch was done in 8 minutes, but my second batch was done in 6. If your air fryer has a pre-heat like mine does, and your fries are in there during the pre-heat, it’s really adding 3 extra minutes to it the cook time. So, for reference, my fries are actually in for 9-11 minutes.

They are only in for a very short amount of time so just keep watch. The key to successful air fryer sweet potato curly fries is remembering the 2 O’s: don’t overcrowd and don’t overcook!

Now we transfer the sweet potato to a bowl. Spray them with avocado oil so they are coated. Then add paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, sea salt. and pepper to taste. And mix it all together by hand. Make sure it’s thoroughly coated and add more paprika and salt to taste.

It looks so delicious. But how does it taste? They are absolutely delicious. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Exactly how you want them. And they are spiced perfectly for me. Please adjust these spices to suit your own tastes.

I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I have! See you on the next one!

Notes

Eating these immediately after cooling off for a minute or two is the best practice. They shrink a little if left in the fridge overnight.
