Preparing Fresh Dill is So Easy

Today, let’s learn how to prepare fresh dill. This is an easy and fast process that is so worth that little extra effort.

Prepare Fresh Dill | How To
First you thoroughly wash a whole bunch of dill. I like to do this with a simple fruit and vegetable wash, being sure to rinse it all off after spraying it liberally onto the fresh dill. I like Trader Joe’s fruit and vegetable wash. It comes with a convenient sprayer and it very easy to use.
After you’ve washed your dill, dry it by laying it on a paper towel, then cover it with a paper tower and press down, removing all the excess water. One set of paper towels on top and below should work just fine unless you have an extra large bunch of dill. Then use more paper towels as needed.
Then carefully remove all the woody stems, keeping only the dill fronds. This is an important part of the process.
Gather all of the dill fronts into a bunch on a small cutting board. Using a chopping knife will allow for the easiest cutting method of the dill fronds.
Then finally, mince the fresh dill with the chopping knife. Just go over it multiple times until it’s all completely minced perfectly. This is a process that will happen naturally as you go back and forth carefully with the blade. This will also open up the flavor of the dill fronds in unbelievable ways.
This will only take a few minutes to do, but will take the flavor of your recipe over the top. The freshness of the dill will be unmistakable.
And voila, your fresh dill is ready to be added to any dish. There are so many wonderful recipes you can add dill to. Tuna Salad is an exceptionally wonderful recipe to add fresh dill to.

The taste difference of using fresh dill is worth this truly small amount of extra effort. I’ve definitely used dried dill on many an occasion. It’s easy, it’s fast, it does taste delicious, and if my supermarket doesn’t have fresh dill in stock, I may not have other options.
But when I have the time, I love to use fresh dill in all my recipes. It’s just a little extra effort, and not that much extra cost, surprisingly if you buy it from the unpackaged fresh produce section.
