Let’s Visit the North Pole… In California!

Let’s explore SkyPark at Santa’s Village, a magical Christmas themed outdoor adventure park. It’s open year round and it’s located in the beautiful San Bernardino Mountains in Southern California. If you’ve ever heard of (or traveled to) Lake Arrowhead, it’s right there!

Sky Park at Santa’s Village has fun activities for all ages, amazing food, and of course the Christmas spirit. We’ll explore everything the park has to offer, including its food.

I’ll even try some Deluxe Cookies that Santa would be absolutely thrilled to find under a Christmas Tree! I’m Allison with Simple Fantastic Kitchen! This is my “On The Road” series where I travel to new places and explore their culture, sites, traditions, and especially their food! You can watch my detailed video below or read on for the full experience!

SkyPark at Santa’s Village | Santa’s House

Let’s start our journey through Sky Park at Santa’s Village.

Upon entering, you’ll immediately see Santa’s house.

During the Christmas season, which is mid-November through early January, Santa awaits you inside his house, ready to hear your Christmas wishes every day that the park is open. He is also there most weekends throughout the rest of the year. And at any time of year, you can post a letter to Santa by leaving it in his mailbox.

Santa’s sleigh is right in front of his house and a perfect spot to make a memorable holiday card with the family.

And did you know Sky Park at Santa’s Village has a mascot named Arrow? He’s Santa’s dog and can often be found greeting guests around the park.

SkyPark at Santa’s Village | Restaurants

Now, let’s talk about the food. They have so many restaurants. There’s Cringles Coffee and Gifts, the Lunchbox, the Petal Pub where they have a full bar available. Saint Nick’s patio and grill. And Billy’s Barbecue where we decide to have a meal.

We have an amazing view from our table and they display the cutest photos of the park’s history.

Did I mention that this Santa’s village was first established in 1955? Pretty cool, huh? It was restored and reopened in 2016 under new ownership dedicated to creating a magical experience for all.

But back to Billy’s Barbecue where I sample the tri-tip and garlic mashed potatoes. It’s very tender. That’s an excellent sign. It is delicious. Then I try the garlic mashed potatoes. They are delicious as well. And look, there’s another amazing view from our table of someone riding the B Rail.

What a great meal! So, next up I want to share with you, the piece de resistance (as the French say!)… This is the place everyone said we just have to go. The Gingerbread House Bakery and Sweet Shop.

It’s so adorable outside. And inside, it’s filled with Christmas charm! And the desserts all smell and look so delicious.

We talked to Jeri, the baker, who tells us all about this magical place. She tells us “The bakery has been here for a very long time. [This is the] original building. In 2016, I believe, Sky Park reopened, opened up the bakery. [They] started off with a few cookies: chocolate chip, lemon. And now it’s grown into so much. We have so many different flavors in here.”

Jeri continued, “Yeah, I come in every morning. I make all the dough. We scoop everything by hand. We decorate everything by hand. We’ll always have a chocolate chip, a lemon, and a ginger doodle here, which is our main cookies that we always carry.”

When I asked Jeri why people should come to the Bakery and Sky Park, she said “Oh, you should come here.. especially here to the bakery just because everything’s made by love. Everything’s made by scratch. We truly love what we do over here. Not only in the bakery, but the park. You’ll have so much fun over here in Sky Park.”

We decide to try two of their bestselling cookies and a wild card. We also get a hot chocolate. Thanks to Jeri for being so helpful and baking our treats from scratch with love.

Now, it’s time to go sample our choices. We’ll start with the lemon cookie, which is one of the bakery’s best sellers.

SkyPark-at-Santa's-Lemon-Cookie1

It is so wonderful. The outside is chewy, but the inside is almost like a lemon pound cake.

SkyPark-at-Santa's-Village-Lemon-Cookie

The lemon is so delicious. There’s like powdered sugar on the top. There’s a very sweet aftertaste that just stays with you and the powdered sugar just sort of lifts it over the top. It is so delicious. I can see why people come back for this all the time.

Next, we’ll try hot chocolate. It’s so good.

Next, we’re going to try the wild card, a molasses cookie. This is a beautiful cookie. It shimmers and shines. And it smells amazing.

SkyPark-at-Santa's-Village-Gingerdoodle-Cookie-4

Of course, it tastes so wonderful. When I bite into it, there’s a crunch to it. Some of that crunch is sparkling sugar on top and some of the crunch is the crispy outside. But the inside is super chewy and super super delicious. It is really a perfect cookie. It is awesome. I love a molasses cookie.

Time to cleanse the palette with another swig of hot chocolate!

Last but not least, the ginger doodle cookies. They look so good. There is some sparkling sugar on them as well. They glisten in the sunlight. It’s quite a thing to behold.

SkyPark-at-Santa's-Village-Gingerdoodle-Cookies-6

Now, these are one of the kinds of cookies that people come back for again and again. So, we’ll give the ginger doodle a try. That is awesome. That is so good!

It’s a little bit crispy on the outside and then the inside is super chewy and super delicious. It’s like one part gingerbread, one part snicker doodle. And if you imagine how delicious that is, kick it up a little bit more. The more you eat of it, the more you love it.

They had so many options of cookies, but if I could pick three more cookies, I would pick these exact same cookies again. They were so good.

What an amazing day in Sky Park at Santa’s Village, filled with fun activities and delicious food. I really hope you get a chance to visit here. It is truly a magical place.

Please note, you should always be sure to check the Sky Park at Santa’s Village website for current hours, prices, and activities as they are always subject to change.

Thanks for reading and I look forward to seeing you here when I explore a new locale with new cuisine! I’ll see you on the next “On The Road” food and travel adventure!
