Under Sink Organization | How To
Today, I’ll tell you how I transformed my kitchen sink cabinet from a messy, cluttered dumping ground to organized simplicity and you can too, with these 4 Easy Steps. I’m Allison with Simple Fantastic Kitchen. Welcome!

Under Sink Organization | 4 Steps
My kitchen sink cabinet was a disaster until I finally discovered the best way to organize this totally elusive area. I’ll show you exactly what I did in four easy steps.
Under Sink Organization | Step 1
Step one, I removed everything from the cabinet and cleaned it well. Then I measured the height, depth, and width of the interior of the cabinet. This area is always so much larger than we realize, and the massive depth combined with the plumbing in the middle makes it so hard to utilize properly.
Under Sink Organization | Step 2
Step 2, I purchased non-adhesive liner to make the area more aesthetically pleasing and easier to clean. I chose a white color that matches my cabinet’s interior, cut it to fit, and laid it down, overlapping the liner when needed.
Under Sink Organization | Step 3
Step 3: this is where I radically changed courses from what I would normally do. Instead of looking at what I removed from the cabinet and trying to create a targeted storage system for those items, I changed my tactics. And I think this made all the difference in the world.
I realized I have plenty of spaces to put sponges and smaller cleaning supplies. So, what did I actually need to store that would uniquely fit in this kitchen sink cabinet?
I searched for items that would accommodate the depth of the cabinet without getting cluttered. And also that would be all right if there happened to be a plumbing leak at some point.
Believe it or not, I landed on my cookware. My sink is located directly next to the stove. So, this really is an ideal place for me to store them. And in my tiny kitchen, there was actually no other cabinet that would accommodate the depth, height, and width I needed to store these items.
Any cast iron cookware would, of course, not be appropriate for a water prone area, but most other cookware would be just fine there.
I knew I would also be storing some larger cleaning products, garbage bags, and a really cool wooden piece that I’ll tell you about at the end. So, how can I best store these items?
Under Sink Organization | Step 4
That leads me to Step 4: finding organizational products that might be helpful and then implementing them.
For the cookware, I knew I wanted to store it vertically. So, I searched for vertical storage racks. I found this pan + lid vertical storage rack that was highly rated and rightly so. It’s absolutely wonderful.
It allows me to store my cookware and lids vertically. And by the way, I store the lids with the dedicated pan, but I face the lid inward so that it fits neatly inside the allotted space.
Did I mention this rack has flexible dividers? So, I get to decide exactly how much space I want between items. It’s also expandable, so if I need a little more or a little less space, it can accommodate that, which I absolutely love.
Then I searched for products to help me best organize my garbage bags and also store some of the other larger cleaning supplies. I found this awesome two-tiered garbage bag storage system.
This stackable storage was so easy to put together. It’s basically just a couple of pieces, ready to stack. It allows me to store tall kitchen bags as well as 30-gallon outdoor bags and it just fits my needs perfectly.
And note, there is a ledge on top that allows additional storage for some of my larger cleaning supplies.
And last but not least, I left room on the left hand side of the pot and lid rack for a very special wooden piece. It has a dual purpose. It can be an extra-large cutting board, but it also doubles as extra countertop space. And it fits on top of my stove perfectly. Basically, it allows me to use my stove as an extra countertop surface, which is a genius solution for tiny spaces like mine. You can get one for your kitchen too, no matter what the size of your stove.
If you have a tiny kitchen like mine, here it is for a 20″ Small Kitchen Stove.
If you have a traditional sized kitchen, here it is for a Regular Sized 30″ Stove.
It can also be found in 24″ Wide Stoves that are that in between size.
So the question to ask yourself is: What can you uniquely store in your kitchen sink cabinet? Once you figure this out, you will never look back. Your Under Sink Organization will stay organized. And, just like me, every time you open that kitchen sink cabinet you will breathe a sigh of relief!
I guarantee you, there’s something creative you never would have considered that will end up being perfect for you for that space. I can’t wait for you to try this trick out and transform your space too!
