Noodles with Only 3g of Carbs?

Let’s learn how to prepare low carb shirataki noodles, which are often called miracle noodles because they only have 12 calories and less than 3g of carbs per serving.

Welcome to Simple Fantastic Kitchen. Thank you for joining me today. Let’s get started.
Shirataki Noodles | Where to Find Them?
As a note, Shirataki noodles can be difficult to find in your standard grocery store, but are easily found online. I’ve left a link right here to these noodles for your convenience:
Shirataki Noodles Variety Pack
This is a variety pack that includes angel hair, fetuccini, and spaghetti.

We will be making spaghetti shirataki noodles today. There’s really no difference in the calories or carb count between the three. It’s just the shape of the noodle that’s different.
There are a lot of other different shapes of Shirataki Noodles out there as well. I believe there’s macaroni too, so you can have some fun making a Shirataki Noodle Mac and Cheese. I will have to make a recipe for that!
Shirataki Noodles | How To Make
Have a mesh strainer available and put it in the sink. Open the package of Shirataki Noodles. Then put the Shirataki Noodles into the mesh strainer. There will be fluid inside the package. Drain that and rinse the noodles thoroughly with water.
We do this for two reasons. The noodles are packed in a combination of water and citric acid to help them maintain their shape and freshness. This combination can create a slimy coating and a slightly fishy smell. Draining and rinsing helps us to eliminate the odor and improve the texture.
We will rinse for about 2 minutes until the odor dissipates and the coating is removed.
By the way, shiritakei noodles are made up of 97% water and 3% conjac flour, which is why they are so low in carbs and calories.
Then we will dry roast the noodles. Put them in a small non-stick pan without any oil. Pan frying the noodles in a dry skillet for about 5 minutes helps to evaporate the excess moisture and give them a better texture.
Once prepped, you can add a protein like cooked shrimp. Stir the shrimp into the noodles. Then add in the sauce of your choice.
We’re adding in a miso honey ginger sauce today that is absolutely delicious. The recipe for the Miso Sauce can be found by clicking here:

Stir until combined. Cover and allow it to cook for a few minutes. By adding shrimp to the dish, you’re adding substantial protein. Then your low carb, high protein shiritake noodles are ready.
At this point, add some sea salt and ground pepper.
Shirataki Noodles | How Does It Taste?
It looks really good. But how does it taste? It is so delicious. It’s very filling and the whole dish is under 200 calories. This dish makes an excellent meal, especially for anyone looking to watch their figure.
Now, let’s discuss just the noodles for a moment. They have a slightly chewy texture and are relatively tasteless, which is why you need a good sauce and protein to pair with them.
Sometimes the noodles can still have a slightly bitter taste, which is why pairing it with a honey-based sauce is perfect. Feel free to adjust your honey to taste at the end.
I’m so happy you could join me today. I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I do! I’ll see you on the next one.
