Let’s make a tradition in our house on Thanksgiving: Green Bean Casserole! My Mom used to make this every Thanksgiving. We looked forward to it every year. It was our favorite! Now that I’m an adult, I realize this side dish doesn’t have to only be for Thanksgiving. You can make this anytime you want! It makes an excellent side for any occassion. My sister has added her own touch to the recipe over the years, by adding fresh sliced mushrooms into the cream of mushroom soup… a genius idea and so easy to accomplish, especially if you buy pre-sliced fresh mushroom! Just wash your sliced mushrooms and mix them in!
Once you’ve added all your ingredients in and bake, you will have the loveliest green bean casserole, ready for any occassion!

Green Bean Casserole
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup milk
- 16 oz green beans french sliced preferred (frozen, canned or fresh)
- 8 oz mushrooms sliced
- 6 oz french fried onions
- 21.4 oz condensed cream of mushroom soup (2 regular sized cans)
Instructions
- Pre-heat oven to 350°F.
- Pour both cans of soup into a large mixing bowl and combine with milk. Stir. Then stir in mushrooms.
- Have a large casserole dish. Place the green beans evenly into the dish, then stir in the soup, milk and mushrooms from the large mixing bowl. Combine until well mixed.
- Then add french fried onions on top, spreading them out evenly so the surface is well covered.
- Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes (or until bubbling occurs). Then remove and let cool for 10-15 minutes. Then you are ready to slice, serve, and enjoy.
