Let’s make a delicious fresh pesto sauce recipe in the Mortar and Pestle. You can always make this in a food processor as well, but there’s nothing quite like the layers of flavor that arise from using a Mortar and Pestle. Let’s get started!

Make Fresh Pesto Sauce in a Mortar and Pestle

Ingredients
- 4 garlic cloves, quartered
- 25 basil leaves
- 3 tsbp pine nuts
- 2 oz parmesan cheese grated
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/2 cup olive oil extra virgin
Instructions
- Put garlic cloves into mortar. Grind into a garlic paste. Add basil, a few leaves at a time and continue to grind. Then add pine nuts, 1 tbsp at a time, and continue to grind. Add parmesan cheese, one handful at a time. Grind in mortar until fully combined and paste-like. Add lemon juice and mix until fully combined. Then add olive oil, a little at a time until fully mixed in. Then add to the pasta of your choice, serve and enjoy!

You can also make this recipe in a food processor and it will be lovely. However, the mortar and pestle brings out unique and wonderful layers of flavors.
